This zine is a collection of photographs from Chelmsford, Essex during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It is a personal record of how the pandemic impacted the city and its people, as seen through my camera.

I used my permitted daily hour of exercise to walk around Chelmsford and document the changes that were taking place. I captured empty streets, closed shops, and deserted public spaces. I also photographed people going about their daily lives in new and unfamiliar ways, wearing masks, social distancing, and queuing for essential supplies.

The zine is a poignant and moving record of a difficult time. It is a reminder of the challenges that we faced together, and of the resilience and community spirit that saw us through.

Why this zine is important

This zine is important because it provides a unique perspective on the COVID-19 pandemic in Chelmsford and it offers a glimpse into a time that will not be forgotten.

It is also important because it celebrates the resilience and community spirit of Chelmsford. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the people of Chelmsford came together to support each other.
